Rua das Pedras
The main shopping district in Buzios is the Rua das Pedras (Stones Street). Here you can find everything from the traditional stores to classy boutiques. The choice is large, ranging from the regular touristy stuff to the eclectic. In fact you will come across a great combination of branded stores, boutiques and local shops selling traditional wares is the high point of this little fishing town. Much of the merchandise is sourced from all over Brazil and the world. Some stores will even let you order specific goods.
Buzios Souvenirs and Gifts
Local shopping is varied and can keep you occupied through the day. From knick-knacks to furniture, everything is sold in Buzios. The clothes on sale are often beach-themed and you can expect to find light and informal clothing apart from the newest designs in bikinis. A number of stores sell assorted items such as sea shells, maps engraved on leather, lighters, lamps, thermometers, wooden clocks, frames with knots and pirate figurines.
Depending on the size and the artistic value, shells cost anywhere between R$ 0.50 and R$ 3,200. You can also shop for scented candles, statues of various gods, local instruments like flutes and tacacás, silver, semiprecious stones, pillow covers and tablecloths. Larger items such as rustic furniture, chandeliers and sofas can also be purchased in the shopping centre of Buzios. Most of the cosmetics are imported from France though. Another good place to shop is in Manguinhos, where tourists can buy plants, flowers and outdoor furniture. Most of these stores are open from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm and accept all credit cards.
Apart from the branded clothing there are many shops owned by locals who are friendly and helpful. If you plan to buy trousers then it is advisable to first make arrangements for a tailor who will alter the length because most trousers are sold by waist size. Tenda Shopping Centre
The Tenda is a shopping complex showcasing some of the best names in fashion and accessories from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Located at the Bardot Seashore, and designed by architect Hélio Pelegrino, this 600 square metre structure is close to several Buzios Hotels and was the brainchild of Marcelo Santa Cecília, who was the commercial manager of one of the best shopping experiences in Rio, the São Conrado Fashion Mall. The names that are featured in Tenda include Rosa Chá, Corpo e Arte and Mucki for decoration; Mercado Infantil and Spicy for home and interiors; Natan for watches; Track & Field, who specialise in sports fashion; Originalis, who are into aromatherapy, candles and soaps; Lisht jewellery; and Alice Tapajós, Espaço Lundgren and Essencial for men's fashion.
